The second online meeting of the SPANIT project, held on May 2, 2024, marked a significant step in fostering inclusion and language acquisition.
Representatives from Education in Progress SPAIN and EUSA gathered to evaluate best practices and initiate the creation of an innovative Linguistic Toolkit aimed at teaching Spanish and Italian in real-life business contexts.
The team reviewed ten carefully selected best practices designed to promote inclusivity within educational and professional settings. Discussions focused on their effectiveness, adaptability, and real-world impact, ensuring that the most successful approaches would be integrated into the SPANIT framework.
The final document is already online and can be read and downloadable as an Open Educational Resource of SPANIT Webpage.
Developing the Linguistic Toolkit
A core objective of this project phase is the creation of a Linguistic Toolkit that enhances language learning through immersive and practical experiences. The toolkit will be centered on real-life businesses and services from Palma de Mallorca and Capri Island, allowing learners to develop technical vocabulary in authentic settings.
Key components of the toolkit include:
-
Large posters depicting real businesses and services from both islands.
-
Decks of cards featuring local Spanish and Italian products, enriched with linguistic and cultural comparisons.
-
Interactive role-play scenarios that simulate real-world experiences such as working in a souvenir shop, navigating a ferry, or assisting in a travel agency.
This approach not only strengthens practical language skills but also boosts migrants' confidence in daily interactions. Additionally, by highlighting local heritage and traditions, the toolkit fosters a deeper understanding of European cultural diversity.
Next Steps
-
Finalization of the best practices evaluation for integration into the project.
-
Development of posters and card decks, ensuring linguistic accuracy and cultural relevance.
-
Testing and refinement to enhance usability and inclusivity.
The SPANIT project continues to advance innovative educational tools that promote language acquisition, cultural exchange, and social inclusion, strengthening connections between Spanish and Italian communities.
